Hello! I am a MSc. student in the SURREAL Lab. I focus on developing simulation models for grizzly bear movement to study differences in movement behavior between resident and translocated grizzlies. I love kayaking, hiking, climbing, and talking science. Ask me about how to get involved or ways to make the most out of your degree!

I'm a student in the SURREAL lab in the second year of my masters. I'm collaborating with the Canadian Wildlife Service on a seabird distribution and habitat modelling project, and am studying movement of Ancient Murrelets using GPS tracking. My research interests include wildlife ecology and conservation, and spatial statistics. I'm happy to chat about how to get involved with GGSS, graduate school in general, and fun things to do around Victoria!

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the ICE lab. For my project, I am working with satellite images for mapping sea ice types in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. I am focusing on utilizing microwave remote sensing data for understanding the summer melt sea ice conditions and their impact on ecosystem dynamics and marine transportation. For GGSS, I would like to maintain a strong graduate student network, thus I am happy to answer any questions related to the grad and non-grad life.

I am a master's student in the GECOS lab studying sediment morphodynamics in bedrock confined estuaries. Although I am a Physical Geographer as my primary passion, I love hiking, cycling, reading/writing (fantasy), cooking, and motorcycle riding. I want to be a part of creating a sense of community for graduate students in Geography. Hope to see you and hear about your research at the upcoming GGSS events!

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Sea ice Lab. My thesis is concerned with creating an automated pressure ice ridge detection model in different seasons to reduce sea ice hazards. I am working with radar satellite images and airborne very high-resolution images to create the model. I would like to help grad students and socialize more. Thus, we can have the opportunity to share our information and our grad life concerns.
